What we
collect.
How this site handles visitor data, what it stores, who else can see it, and how to have it removed. Last updated 26 August 2026.
Who is responsible
Sensible Stats (thesensiblestats.com) is an independent site operated by Rich Pomfret in the United Kingdom, acting as the data controller for the limited personal data described below.
Analytics — no cookies, no identifiers
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless: it sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser, assigns no persistent identifier and does not track you across other websites. It records the page requested, an approximate country, and coarse device and browser type. That data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you.
The site’s hosting provider also keeps standard server request logs, which include IP addresses, for a short period for security and abuse prevention.
The newsletter mailing list
If you submit your email address to the Friday Forecast form, that address is stored with Resend, the email provider used to send the newsletter. It is used for that newsletter and nothing else. It is never sold, rented or shared, and it is not used to build an advertising profile.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by asking directly — see “Your rights” below. Unsubscribing removes the address from the list.
The feedback form
Messages sent through the feedback or contact form are recorded as issues in the site’s public GitHub repository, along with the page you were on. Please do not put personal information you would not want published into that form; if you need to reach the site privately, use the contact route instead.
Advertising
The site does not currently show advertising, and no advertising cookies are set. This section describes what will apply if and when advertising is introduced, so the position is stated in advance rather than after the fact.
If advertising is introduced, it is expected to be served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices. This page will be updated, and its date changed, before any ad code is placed.
What the site does not do
There are no user accounts and no logins, so no password or profile is ever stored. The site takes no payment and holds no payment details. It does not use advertising or social-media tracking pixels, and it does not sell or share personal data with data brokers.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you may request access to any personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be erased, or object to its processing. In practice the only personal data this site holds is a mailing list address, and erasure is immediate on request.
Send requests through the contact page. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
Any material change to how this site handles data will be reflected here, and the “last updated” date at the top will change with it. This policy was last updated on 26 August 2026.
